Social service near Siang River
PASIGHAT, Sept 12: Siang Welfare Forum (SWF) in collaboration with Anti Drugs Committee of Adi Baane Kebang (Women Wing) conducted a mass social service on the banks of Siang River, Children’s Park and Paglek Colony here today.
Thrown away empty beer bottles, cans, plastic bottles, which were scattered in the river bank littering the entire area, were collected and later disposed.
Councilor (Ward no. 6) Makpak Peyang advised all, particularly those youths, who often visit the river bank and spend their leisure time, not to throw discarded materials here and there and keep the river bank clean. Appreciating the organisers of the cleanliness drive, he urged various organisations and students unions to follow suit.
The motto of the cleanliness drive was to inculcate a sense of cleanliness, good health and hygiene practices among the public.
DC inspects progress of highway works
AALO, Sept 12: West Siang Deputy Commissioner Pigu Ligu inspected the highway works near Darka village where a new shortcut route is being taken up by TK Engineering Works.
The company officials disclosed that all earth cutting works have been completed barring few meters where electric poles are to be shifted and to complete it soon.

ITANAGAR, Sept 12: The two-
Addressing the valedictory function, Prof. S K Nayak, Dean of Social Science, RGU, said that the research scholars should present their ideas in a simple way by using simple words and sentences instead of using difficult vocabularies and tough sentences in the research process and in other academic works. Volunteers construct school fencing
ITANAGAR, Sept 12: The students, teaching staff, GBs, panchayat members and general public led by the Mani Govt Secondary School Management and Development Committee (SMDC) have repaired and constructed the school fencing during a two days social service on Sept 11 and 12.
The SMDC Chairperson cum Doimukh ZPM Tana Yayo provided 210 mtrs of chain link fencing materials and 150 wooden posts for construction of fencing around the school.
State Legislative Assembly Speaker, Nabam Rebia, Govt officers and panchayat leaders including Papum Pare DDSE, Doimukh BDO, AE power, ASM Chairperson and Chiputa ASM visited the school and hostel this morning and participated in the social service.

Facilitate financial assistance to skilled youth, says Governor to banks, Govt
ITANAGAR, Sept 12: While on a visit to Bamboo Processing Centre, Poma today, the Governor J P Rajkhowa said that financial assistance must be provided to the trained persons by the banks and financial institutions as part of the State Programme to generate and provide employment.
The Governor said this after he was informed that 60 persons were provided training in the last financial year, against capacity for 360 trainees in a year because of paucity of funds. The Governor stating that Credit Deposit Ratio of the State stands at 21.2 %, whereas the All India Ratio is 78.1%, he desired that the Government of Arunachal Pradesh should take up the matter with banks and provide positive support to the Centre.
The Governor advised Papum Pare Deputy Commissioner Tai Kaye to take special interest for development of the Craft Centre and organising training of at least 360 trainees in a year, under the Skill Development Mission of Government of Arunachal Pradesh.
The instructors also informed that most of the machines installed in 2009, when the Centre was set up are not functioning and outdated.
The Governor opined that the machines need to be replaced with latest ones, preferably automatic, which do not require much physical labour and are more efficient.
The Governor interacted with the trainees, master trainers and members of Poma Village Development Society, which is running the centre.
The Governor observed that the Centre is good for economic empowerment of rural community but to realise that it must involve the youth in big way. He emphasised that youth of the State must work hard and not shy away from physical labour. Citing example of former President APJ Abdul Kalam and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who had toiled in their early life but achieved spectacular success, the Governor advised the youths to imbibe a high sense of dignity of labour. The Governor further advised the villagers to focus on value added handicrafts that fetch more profit than incense sticks, where production cost is much higher than the return per kilogram of sticks. He suggested them to make handicraft items like ‘Murha’ and small chairs for children from cane and bamboo, which he opined will sell like hot cakes.

Fate of PMEGP beneficiaries hangs in balance

ROING, Sept 12: The fate of 25 selected beneficiaries under PMEGP hangs in balance as the Roing HDFC bank branch has no specific answer when the bank loan will be provided to them.
According to information received, HDFC bank branch is not in a position to disburse the bank loan to the beneficiaries as the subsidy amount of previous PMEGP loans are yet to be cleared by the Khadi and Village Industry Commission.

According to a bank source, there has been no response from the KVIC, to the repeated letters sent by the BM regarding the matter. "A letter in this regard was also forwarded to the DC Roing", said the source.
Altogether, 25 beneficiaries of the PMEGP programme were entitled to receive loan from the HDFC Bank in the month of March last as per Government norms. "Even after repeated pleas, the bank has not disbursed the loan yet", said a representative of the Association.
One of the beneficiary informed that they had been formally selected in September 2014 after facing a selection board comprising Panchayat members, EAC, DDI, ADI, CM SBI and BM HDFC. "We were provided three days entrepreneurship training from March 2 after our selection. We were also provided certificates for the same, but have not received our loan till now", he informed. Damin said, "PMEGP is meant to provide upliftment to the unemployed and promote self employment, but this issue between the HDFC bank and the KVIC is depriving the people of their rights. The hopeful beneficiaries have not only spent a lot of money throughout the process, but also lost valuable time. We want this issue between the two agencies to be resolved as soon as possible, otherwise, we will have to launch a democratic movement for justice".

Taku cautions against irregularity, mismanagement by teachers

ITANAGAR, Sep 12: The Universal Brotherhood Day was celebrated by the VKVs in the state with various programmes commemorating the epoch making speech by Swami Vivekananda in Chicago, USA.
Attending celebration at VKV Kuporijo, Upper Subansiri Superintendent of Police Taru Gusar highlighted about Swami Vivekananda, who is known for his inspiring speech at Parliament of the World’s Religion at Chicago in 1893.
Acknowledging the yeoman service of the VKVs in Arunachal Pradesh, particularly in education sector, the SP suggested the students to devote their time and energy for a bright future and fulfill the dreams and aspirations of the parents as well.
Later, he gave away the certificates of appreciation sent by Smriti Irani, Minister of Human Resources and Development to the concern subject teachers of VKV Kuporijo for good performance by students in class X examination (2015) conducted by CBSE.

”We must live together as brothers or perish together as fools,” said the Deputy Commissioner quoting Martin Luther King (Jr).

Neelam despite suffering from chronic stammering walked away with all the adulations by reciting the five minute speech without any glitch. As per the report, it took him nearly three months to perfect the speech as well as to improve his speaking imparity.
“The confidence of this student and the effort put up by our teachers has helped to achieve this miracle,” said Principal K Jaishankar of VKV Jairampur.
MLA Laisam Simai advised the students to carry forward the visions of Swami Vivekananda. He praised VKV Jairampur for selflessly working to improve the intellectual status of the indigenous society.
“Thumbs up to the selfless endeavour of VKV Jairampur, today, majority of its former students are serving the state in various capacities,” he said.
Overwhelmed by the performance of Neelam, Simai applauded the kid’s confidence and appreciated the trust of teachers that boosted the morale of the young boy to perform perfectly on stage and real life.
“It shows how a simple encouragement from teachers and elders can enable a young mind to achieve the impossible,” he said.

Miscreants extract fuel for free
ITANAGAR, Sept 12: Arunachal Trade & Agencies, Namsai that run a retail outlet, for Indian Oil Corporation Limited has alleged that miscreants are extorting fuel, without paying for it, at the Petrol Pump.
Some people, usually youngsters harass the staff, hurl abuses, take their pictures and threaten them with dire consequences if they don’t provide fuel free of cost to them, said a statement.
Our employees are scared and have developed fear psychosis which has led them to be wary of the people around. We want actions taken so that our safety is guaranteed, the statement read.
It threatened to shut the pump dispensary if such intimidating tactics are not checked.
Local administrative authorities and the police have been informed about the incidents.
The Pump authorities cited recent examples where a youth came in his unregistered Hyundai I20 (white coloured car), not only filled the fuel free but threatened the staff. This was the third time, he had done so.
In another instance, two young boys in their new Scooty, threatened the cashier, after he refused to provide fuel for free. The boys took the picture of the cashier with a threat to take action later.
